PAFRENT DRIVING GUIDE

Driving in Agadir: Parking and Road Rules

Rental car driving on a marked boulevard in Agadir

Driving in Agadir can make it easier to reach beaches, accommodation and nearby coastal towns. A few checks before departure help keep the rental simple, especially when the route continues outside the city.

Prepare before leaving the handover point

Before driving away, check the vehicle condition with the rental agent and make sure existing marks are recorded. Confirm the fuel level, emergency contact method and the documents that must remain with the car. Keep your valid driving licence and identification available.

PAFRENT requires drivers to be at least 21 years old and to have held a driving licence for at least one year. Visitors should also verify any licence or international driving permit requirement that applies to their country of issue before travelling.

Expect mixed traffic in and around Agadir

Drivers should watch for pedestrians, scooters, bicycles and slower vehicles, including on larger roads. Leave space, avoid sudden lane changes and do not assume that every road user has seen the car.

Official travel guidance advises extra caution at night because lighting can be limited. Poor weather can make secondary and mountain roads more hazardous. If a route feels unsuitable for the conditions, postpone the journey or choose a main road.

Parking without rushing

Use clearly permitted spaces and read nearby signs before leaving the vehicle. At hotels, surf camps and private accommodation, ask where guests are allowed to park. Do not leave passports, electronics, cash or luggage visible in the car.

For airport collection and return, follow the meeting and parking instructions sent with the confirmed booking rather than choosing an unconfirmed place at the terminal.

Alcohol and driving

Do not drink and drive. Current UK travel guidance describes drink-driving as a serious offence in Morocco and warns that any alcohol detected can result in penalties. The simplest rule for a rental driver is zero alcohol before driving.

What to do after a problem or accident

Stop in a safe place where possible, protect passengers and contact PAFRENT using the rental contact instructions. Follow the agreement before arranging repairs or continuing to drive a damaged vehicle.

Official travel guidance notes that drivers involved in an accident may need to complete a constat amiable signed by both parties. For an emergency, contact the appropriate Moroccan service and then the rental team and insurer.

Plan longer drives conservatively

Main roads connect Agadir with other cities, while rural and mountain routes can be narrower and more demanding. Check the route, weather and daylight before leaving. Allow extra time and take breaks rather than treating the estimated navigation time as a deadline.

For Taghazout, use the dedicated coastal driving guide. You can also review pick-up and return locations and the road assistance guide.
